Court Dismisses Criminal Cases Against Three DPO IIs

Dear Sisters & Brothers,
Yesterday, the court granted a second motion to dismiss in a criminal case involving a DPO II accused of submitting fraudulent medical notes. This case was more complex than the first, and the favorable ruling followed sustained work by Local 685’s defense counsel Tom Yu.
The court also granted dismissal in a third DPO II’s case. That member was not represented by the union or Tom, but the rulings in the first two cases helped support the third dismissal.
This marks Tom’s seventh criminal court victory defending probation staff, from DSOs to Directors, through pretrial dismissals and not guilty verdicts. These outcomes show the value of a strong defense and our commitment to standing with our members.
In solidarity,
Curtis Chambers
