Today, AFSCME Local 685 joined AFSCME Local 1967, AFSCME Council 36, and the Coalition of County Unions in a meeting with County management to address the County’s proposed changes to Civil Service Rules impacting sworn probation staff.

This meeting did not happen by accident. It was convened at the request of multiple members of the Board of Supervisors after a unified push from the broader labor community, including Local 685, Local 1967, Council 36, the Supervising Deputy Probation Officers (Teamsters Local 986), the Coalition of County Unions, and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. That level of coordination reflects just how serious these proposed changes are.

The discussion was direct and, at times, intense.

What’s Next

We are not done. Discussions with the County will continue, and we are working in coordination with our labor partners to push back on any changes that could negatively impact our membership.

We will keep you informed as this develops.

Bottom line:

Your union is at the table, pushing back, and making sure your voice is heard before any decisions are made.

Stay tuned for further updates.
