Credible Messengers: Not Acceptable For Clearance

At this months’ Probation Oversight Commission Meeting, there was a continuing discussion regarding why the clearance process for Credible Messengers seeking to get clearance to go into Barry J. Nidorf and Los Padrinos was taking so long.


There have been so many complaints about the present clearance approach that apparently Chief Guillermo Viera Rosa decided to attend the meeting and organize a list citing the reasons some of those seeking to become Credible Messengers may not be able to be cleared (see below).


  1. Conviction of any sex offense.

  2. Conviction of crimes against children.

  3. Conviction of crimes with weapons within the last three (3) years.

  4. Conviction of escape or as an accessory.

  5. Conviction of arson.

  6. Conviction of animal cruelty.

  7. Conviction of sale and/or distribution of drugs within the last three (3) years.

  8. Convicted of bringing a controlled substance into a secured detention facility.

  9. Civil Commitment as a mentally disordered offender or sexually violent predator.

  10. Must not have been taken into custody for psychiatric assessment or treatment in the preceding 6 months.

  11. Conviction of Human Trafficking.

  12. Currently on pre-trial, parole, probation and/or community supervision.

  13. No outstanding warrants or wants.


ADDITIONAL DISQUALIFIERS SUBJECT TO DEPARTMENTAL REVIEW:

• Subject of an Active Restraining Order
