Local 685 Executive Board Votes to Recall George Gascon

Sisters and Brothers, The Local 685 Executive Board has voted to join a growing number of organizations pushing for the recall of L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon after the successful recall of San Francisco’s District Attorney, Chesa Boudin.

The coalition to recall Gascon includes victims’ rights advocates, Association of Deputy District Attorneys, Association Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS), Los Angeles Police Protective League (PPL), and Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association (PPOA), and more. Our Executive Board’s decision is based on members’ mounting frustration with Gascon, whose policies are directly impacting our ability to hold youth accountable for their actions. Attempts to file additional charges on youth who assault staff and each other has been met with strong resistance from Gascon’s office and the safety of staff – and youth in our care – is deteriorating by the day.
