Sisters and Brothers,

The Local 685 Executive Board has taken another decisive step to protect the membership by deepening our legal bench. We have retained Tom Yu, an attorney with extensive experience representing law enforcement officers in critical incidents, administrative investigations, and disciplinary matters.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve the membership of your union.  I am committed to working alongside with your new board to do one thing: relentless advocacy of the membership.” – Tom Yu, Esq.

We are probation peace officers. The work we do carries risk, scrutiny, and at times political pressure. When use-of-force decisions, internal investigations, or high-stakes disciplinary actions arise, we need counsel who understands peace officer authority, split-second decision making, and the realities of institutional operations.

Tom Yu brings a strong background in defending law enforcement professionals and navigating complex administrative and criminal proceedings. His addition strengthens our ability to respond quickly and aggressively when members’ careers, reputations, and peace officer status are on the line.

This Executive Board is committed to ensuring that when you do your job, your Union stands fully prepared to defend you.

We are building the team necessary to protect this membership.

In solidarity,

AFSCME Local 685 Executive Board
